THE LOST TAPES A Sugababes brit lányegyüttes nyolcadik stúdióalbuma és első független kiadványuk. Míg az albummal kapcsolatos munka 2011-ig nyúlik vissza, amikor az eredeti felállás újra egyesült, az album kiadatlan maradt egészen a 2022. december 24-i digitális megjelenésig. A The Lost Tapes a második Sugababes album, amelyen az eredeti felállás szerepel a 2000-es One Touch után. A deluxe verzió, amely további három számot tartalmazott, 2022. december 31-én jelent meg digitálisan.
A Lost Tapes a második helyen debütált a UK Digital Albums listán és a 13. helyen az Egyesült Királyság független albumai listáján. A 2023. szeptemberi O2-n tartott egyszeri fellépésüket követően az album új csúcsot ért el, a 7. helyet a brit független albumok listáján, valamint a skót albumlisták 23. helyére került. Az album debütált, és a 150. helyet érte el a brit albumlistán.

HÁTTÉR

2009-ben a Sugababes felállásában Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range és Amelle Berrabah szerepelt, és hetedik albumuk, a Sweet 7 megjelenésére készültek 2010 elején. Az album megjelenése előtt azonban megerősítették, hogy Buchanan 2009 szeptemberében kilép a csapatból, és ezt követően Jade Ewen váltotta fel. Röviddel azután, hogy az eredeti tag, Mutya Buena megszerezte a Sugababes név használatára vonatkozó törvényes jogokat az EU védjegytörvényének 16. osztálya alapján, Buena és Buchanan külön-külön Twitteren üzent a stúdióban történő felvételről. Buchanan azt mondta, hogy "két másik nővel" és a brit rapperrel, Green professzorral volt a stúdióban, míg Buena külön Twitteren írta: "Tunnnnnnnnne! Micsoda durranás. 2012 áprilisában arról számoltak be, hogy a felállás 1 millió font értékű lemezszerződést írt alá a Polydor Records-szal. 2012 júliusában hivatalosan is megerősítették, hogy a csoport Mutya Keisha Siobhan néven újult meg, és Polydor néven új albumra írnak dalokat.[10] A csoport a Naughty Boyt, az MNEK-et, Siát és Shaznay Lewist kérte fel együttműködőként az albumhoz. A csoporttal való együttműködésről az MNEK azt mondta: "Éppen 17 éves voltam, amikor Felix Howard üzent nekem, hogy az eredeti Sugababes ismét együtt énekel, és szeretném, ha írnál velük." Nem akartam nemet mondani, én [sic]". Az énekes-producer szerint a "Today" című dalnak kellett volna az első kislemeznek lennie. Az MNEK a "Drum"-on és a "Boys" című dalon is dolgozott Richard "Biff" Stannarddal.
Az album eredeti címe állítólag The Sacred Three volt, a banda visszatérő koncertkörútja után. Az eredetileg a „Love in Stereo” albumhoz rögzített dalt a Bananarama az In Stereo (2019) című albumán rögzítette. Buchanan egy interjúban elmondta, hogy a csoport új anyagokon dolgozott, miután korábbi munkáik kiszivárogtak az interneten. Az első dalok között volt, amelyek kiszivárogtak a „Back in the Day” című dal egyik verziója, amely 2015 februárjában Ahmad azonos nevű dalát mintázta.[16] Egy évvel később számos más dal is kiszivárgott különböző mértékben a kész produkcióból, köztük a "Boys", "Love in Stereo", "Today", "No Regrets", "Summer 99", "Too in Love", "I'm Alright" és "Drum". Egy másik dal, a Burn Out is kiszivárgott, amelyet később írója, Tom Aspaul visszakapott. A csoport egy „Lay Down in Swimming Pools” című dalt is feltöltött SoundCloud-fiókjukba, amely a Kendrick Lamar „Swimming Pools (Drank)” című dalát vette fel a Dev Hynes-szal folytatott stúdiómunka végén. ZENE ÉS SZÖVEG

Az album a '80-as évek ihlette popzenét tartalmazza, amely leginkább az eredetileg 2013 júniusában megjelent "Flatline" kislemezen van jelen, pop-rock hatásokat, amint az a "Summer 99" látható, és a breakbeat elemeit, ami olyan daloknál figyelemreméltó, mint a "Today."
A Boys című dal szerepel az albumon, amelyről 2013 januárjában egy rövid a cappella klipet töltöttek fel Buchanan YouTube-fiókjára. KISLEMEZEK

FLATLINE Mutya Keisha Siobhan angol lánycsapat dala, a Sugababes eredeti felállása. A trió a brit művész, Dev Hynes mellett írta, ő is készítette. A dalt 2013. szeptember 6-án adták ki digitális kiskereskedőkön keresztül a Polydor Records, aki 2012-ben szerződtette a zenekart. Ez egy R&B árnyalatú pop rock dal, amelyben a dobok és a férfi háttérvokál fokozatosan erősödik a csúcspontig. Lírailag egy kapcsolat megromlásával foglalkozik.
Megjelenésekor a "Flatline" elismerést kapott a zenei újságíróktól, akik előnyben részesítették a produkciót és a vokális harmóniákat.
